ANATOMICAL WONDERS
This is the intersection of science and art. Pulling from vintage anatomical sketches from profound historical scientific figures like Henry Gray and artistic innovators like Leonardo da Vinci, The Space Cowboy brings these iconic understandings of the body into a contemporary context. A macabre aura, like that of early works by Vincent Van Gogh, is met with abstract and colorful splatters of paint, but each work emanates with an unexpected beauty. As each brushstroke devolves into uncontrollable drips down the canvas, we are in awe to learn that his brush never meets the surface. Layers and lines are made with controlled yet intuitive flicks and splashes of paint until figures emerge in their most foundational form. Lost in the motion of the piece, we are entranced by the constant intermingling of life and death.
